Great conference! Thanks to all our organizers and volunteers. See you next year on May 19-21 in Daytona Beach. Mark your calendars!

The Society is sponsoring the 2015 conference, “Born to Burn,” to be held May 28–31 in Tallahassee. The conference will be held in the Downtown Tallahassee Market area.  Conference program days are at the Aloft Hotel (mostly) on Friday and the Challenger Learning Center (CLC) on Saturday, with evening venues at the Capital Building, Wakulla Springs State Park and Tall Timbers Research Station. The hotel for the conference will be the Aloft, located a few blocks from the Downtown MarketPlace and an easy walk to the CLC on Saturday. Conference field trips and workshops are Thursday and Sunday and will leave from the Aloft parking lot. Speakers and workshops will be available on Friday and Saturday. FNPS members of chapters in Northwest Florida are assisting with the conference to promote the mission of FNPS.

Some events will be held at various locations on Friday, such as FSU (Transcription Blitz) and elsewhere.  All events on Saturday will be at Challenger Learning Center.  Conference program days are $120 for each day for members.  Non members are welcome.  Non-member pricing is an additional $35.  Various lunch options will be available from a wide variety of vendors that will suit various dietary needs.

The conference field trips are offered in association with the Friday and Saturday program days.  They are meant to provide hands-on education that enhances the lecture/program.  They are offered at no additional charge with your paid program days.  Some trips may have site-specific fees, which are due and payable by each participant during the trip.  These include parking or park entrance fees and are listed in the field trip descriptions.  Costs are listed in the field trip descriptions.

May 28 - May 31, 2015  Place it on your calendar!

The Aloft room block is sold out and the hotel is sold out for Thursday, May 28. However, Doubletree has been offering rooms for $99/night plus tax and $8 for self-parking.  (There is some remodeling going on in the Doubletree lobby and exterior.)  To book your room, visit www.tallahassee.doubletree.com, enter the arrival and departure date and click on “Add Special Rate Codes” and enter group code “FNP” in the box. Then click on “check rooms and rates.” Continue to make room reservation and  follow the directions. Reservations can also be made by calling the toll free reservation line at (800) 222-8733 and mentioning the group name “FL Native Plant Society.” We are beyond the reservation cut-off date, but they have still been offering rooms.  That may change at any time.

2016 at Daytona Beach is also in early planning stages.
